Wow it’s been a long time since we went to K’s Path (http://www.kspath.org/) at Wafra. K’s Path is a volunteer-based animal rescue shelter, another one is PAWS (http://paws-kuwait.org/blog/). They both allow you to adopt the rescued animals & give them a loving home.
When I came to Kuwait after getting married, I used to be alone during the day time & used to miss my parents, my pet & friends, so when I stumbled across this Open Day at K’s Path on the net, we decided to visit the animals. And boy was I enjoying that day, RD isn’t a big animal lover like me but he did enjoy the greenery & a bit of Monty. 🙂 This visit was in Jan 2010.
Our second visit was in Jan 2011 along with our cousin DD. We had a pleasant trip with fine weather that day. On our previous trip, we witnessed windy & dusty roads. But this time we even got to make quick stops to click a few pictures on the way. 🙂
As we entered, we headed towards the donkey enclosures where one volunteer told us about Lightning & Thunder (two donkeys) & also about the horses. I even got a chance to pet one of the donkeys under her supervision, but of course RD & DD stayed out of the enclosure & forgot to click me! 😦
Then we went on to see the eagles & monkeys enclosures. And then my favorite, walk the dogs. This time we took Skye & Sahara. Skye was a bit shifty & reserved whereas Saraha was calm & reserved. I guess they weren’t used to strangers yet.
There was a field of sunflowers in the middle & I think there were some greenhouses too.
Towards the end, we entered indoors & went to see the rabbits & a few other small animals, then the cattery & last the small dogs.
Coming back home we saw lots of camels on the way & even posed with them. 🙂
So guys, if you’ve never been to Wafra, take this opportunity to go for a long drive through the desert & interact with the animals. At the moment there’s an Open day coming up on the 15th Oct 2011. You can also check out their website for volunteering with them. Have a great day!
